Access to station

• The station is situated on Station Square with two separate access points to each platform.
• The main entrance to Platform 1 is off Plessey Crescent at its junction with Etal Avenue, with a secondary entrance to the left towards the junction with Felton Avenue.
• The main entrance to Platform 2 is on Station Square and marked by a portico and clock tower, with a secondary entrance via a small yard at the left (west) end of the station building.
• There is a taxi rank and taxi office on Station Square.
• A public car park operated by North Tyneside Council with 76 unclassified parking bays is located off Station Square at its junction with Victoria Terrace. There are also 4 designated accessible bays situated immediately outside the station adjacent to the taxi rank.

Access to ticketing areas

• Level access.
• Ticketing areas are only situated at the main entrances, not the secondary entrances.
• Note that on Platform 2 it is necessary to pass through an entrance hall to reach the ticketing area.

Access between platforms

• This station has a degree of step-free access to the platforms, which may be in both directions or in one direction only.
• Direct access is by footbridge within the station, with stairs at each side
• A second footbridge at the west end of the station has both ramps and stairs. Note that this footbridge may be accessed directly from the secondary entrances.
