Access to station

• The station is situated immediately north of Boldon Lane with ramped footpath access from Boldon Lane to separate entrances on each platform.
• Both footpaths also continue on to connect with a subway passing under the Metro at the north end of the station, linking Olive Street with Whitehead Street.
• There is direct access to Platform 1 off Whitehead Street.
• Note that both footpaths from Boldon Lane are steep in places.
• There is a public car park operated by South Tyneside Council on Whitehead Street opposite the Platform 1 entrance with 34 unclassified parking bays.

Access to ticketing areas

• Platform 1 has level access off Whitehead Street.
• Platform 2 has ramp access from footpath.

Access between platforms

• This station has a degree of step-free access to the platforms, which may be in both directions or in one direction only.
• Direct transfer is by means of a footbridge accessed only by stairs at either side. Otherwise passengers should use the Olive Street subway situated at the north end of the station.
