From South Shields ferry landing it’s a 5-10 minute walk to South Shields Interchange and the town centre. Buses or the Metro to take you on to other destinations, in South Tyneside and beyond
Onward travel from North Shields ferry landing
Bus and Metro connections
From North Shields ferry landing you can use any of the bus services below to take you to North Shields Transport Hub and the town centre. From there you can connect with other buses or Metro to take you on to other destinations, including Tynemouth.
The following services operate from the bus stop located on Duke Street (at the exit from the north landing turn left onto Duke Street).
Service 19
On Service 19, travel to stops between North Shields ferry landing (Duke Street)-Fish Quay-North Shields Metro station/town centre are free with any ticket that is valid on the ferry. You can also buy selected tickets on this service for onward travel on the ferry. This service operates Monday-Sunday.
Please note: children travelling as part of our ‘Take the kids for free on the Shields Ferry’ offer, must pay for onward travel on service 19, only the fare-paying adult can travel for free between the ferry landing and the town centre.
